The City Agriculture Office (CAgO) assisted a total of 5,889 farmer-beneficiaries in availing the subsidy provided by the Provincial Government of Bukidnon (PGB) in hope to uplift the lives of low-income farmers.

The livelihood assistance packages were distributed in three batches comprised of 37 barangays of the City of Malaybalay. Each farmer received two bags complete fertilizer and one bag corn seeds.

Some 1,999 farmers received the packages on October 3, 2019 at the Kaamulan Folk Arts Theatre. Another batch of 1,915 gathered the following day at Capitol Grounds to receive their share. Finally, on October 7, 2019, the last batch 1,975 farmers were handed their packages from the representatives of the PGB and the Department of Agriculture – Provincial Office.

According to CAgO, the recipients passed all the requirements based on their revalidation of the Provincial Farmers Information System (PFIS). The program is aimed to help farmers who own and cultivate a piece of farmland one hectare or less.

CAgO further stressed that farmers can expect a potential yield of 4.8 metric tons per hectare with an estimated income around Php 20,000, based on current price in the market.
