The Malaybalay African Swine Fever (ASF) Taskforce has destroyed 20 boxes of confiscated pork meat products in a designated facility on February 19, 2021.

In its relentless effort to prevent and contain the spread of ASF in the City, the task force headed by City Veterinary Office disposed the contrabands that contain cans of pork luncheon meat, lechon paksiw and packs of pork cubes flavoring.

The event was witnessed by Congressman Atty. John T. Flores, showing his strong support of the Executive Order No. 74 series of 2020, for the temporary banning entry of live hogs, pork, pork products, and by-products to the City of Malaybalay from all other provinces throughout the country.

The disposal was facilitated by City Veterinarians, Dr. Michele C. Miquiabas, Dr. Mary Ann Valdez, Checkpoint supervisor Dr. Mark Ferdinand C. Arambala, ASF-IMT Personnel, Malaybalay Philippine National Police (PNP), and CEEDMO Designate Mr. Romeo R. Lapeciros, Jr.

Various agency officers also present were Exec. Asst. IV Brian Nelson T. Flores, National Veterinary Quarantine Services Mr. Allistair Jude C. Bacaoco, and Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Stephen Arcayera.

Since last year, the taskforce has been closely guarding the borders through its checkpoints to curb ASF infestation in our local hog industry. Veterinary head, Dr. Miquiabas urged travelers going in the City to avoid bringing the said pork goods and products as cited in the executive order.
