The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSDWO) of the City Government of Malaybalay provided opportunity for the 250 unemployed or out-of-work family heads from Barangays Cabangahan, Capitan Anghel, Laguitas, Patpat and Violeta to be involved in productive activity and avail of food augmentation on July 27 – 31, 2020.

The CSWDO endeavors to provide measure in preventing nutritional decline in the midst of the global pandemic, especially to poor families in our locality. Many of them had experienced loss of income and unemployment which affected how they were able to provide for the basic necessities of their family. Several assistance has already been provided by City Government, such as food and non-food items, but they were still insufficient in addressing the basic necessities of the families.

The Food-for-work scheme requires the identified families to render five days of work for their communal and backyard garden, in exchange of Php1,600 worth of food to sustain their daily food requirement.

The barangay officials of the 5 target barangays identified the beneficiaries, ensuring that they were not recipients of the recently implemented Cash for Work Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. They also monitored the beneficiaries while the project was on-going. After project completion, the barangays submitted the accomplished attendance sheets and photo documentation of the beneficiaries displaying the before, during and after completion of the project.

Meanwhile, CSWDO personnel then regularly monitors the completed projects and facilitated for the release of the family food packs after project completion.
