Contingents from Malaybalay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Bureau of Fire and Protection and Malaybalay Emergency Rescue Unit braved their way up to the top spot as they finished overall champion of the recently concluded 1st Provincial Rescue Olympic held at the City of Malaybalay.

The 3-day event that started last July 26, 2017 tested the capacity and capability of our local responders thereby tapping their skills and expertise with the available resources and equipment they have.

The activity also promotes strengthened partnership and linkages with our counterparts among local government units of the province which 12 municipalities and two cities had participated. The competition was comprised of four scenarios such as fire incident, vehicular accident, high angle and water search & rescue.

Malaybalay City rescue team expressed their gratitude for the untiring support of Mayor Ignacio W. Zubiri to capacitate them with trainings and equipment they needed as evident in the outcome of the competition.

The Provincial Government of Bukidnon hosted the first ever Rescue Olympics in coordination with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council to conduct an inter-LGU event in line with the celebration of the National Disaster Resilience Month in July anchored in the theme: “4Ks, Kamalayan, Kahandaan, Katumbas ay Kaligtasan.”
