The Aldaw ta Kitanglad is held annually to show and express gratitude on the significant contributions of our brother indigenous peoples in the continued protection and preservation of the park.

Among the highlights of the celebration were the search for Laga ta Kitanglad and the Environmental Dance Drama Competition. The City of Malaybalay is one of the local government units that supports and protects the preservation of Mt. Kitanglad Range and continues to participate in this authentic indigenous event.

Last November 6, 2019 at Basac, Lantapan, Ms. Rica Joy L. Casinabe, the Malaybalay City candidate of Laga Ta Kitanglad 2019 took home the crown after 7 long years. She is 18 years of age, currently studying at Bukidnon State University taking Bachelor of Science in Social Science. A 100% pure blooded Higaonon of Sitio Tintinaan, Barangay Can-ayan.

During the Q&A, the candidates had to interpret the image shown based on the number they picked. In this part Ms. Rica’s picture was about Forest Fire where she was able to deliver it precisely, concisely and straightforward that made her the winner.

She was competing with other seven candidates from different municipalities, such as Libona, Talakag, Sumilao, Impasug-ong, Manolo Fortich, Lantapan and Baungon.

Minor awards were also given to Laga ta Libona as Miss Congeniality, Laga ta Malaybalay as Miss Helpful, Laga ta Talakag as Miss Charming, Laga ta Baungon as Miss Kindness, Laga ta Sumilao as Miss Respectful, Laga ta Manolo Fortich as Miss Generousity, Laga ta Impasug-ong as Miss Photogenic and Best in Ethnic Attire, and Laga ta Lantapan Best in Production Number and Best in Talent.

Malaybalay City Bukidnon National High School- Special Program in the Arts with Mr. Arthur G. Pimentel, SPA Coordinator and the Choreographer of the Environmental Dance Drama Competition also bagged the Best in Storyline during the Environmental Dance Drama Competition. They portrayed a great story about how to preserve not only the culture of Bukidnon tribe but also to protect their homeland for the future generation. Thus, the title “Ang Kinaiyahan”.
