Anchored on the theme, “Pulagoy ta Kabatan-unan,” the City Sports and Development Office under the City Mayor’s Office in coordination with the Local Youth Development Office kicked off a local running event dubbed as Pulagoy sa Malaybalay: Summer Fun Run on April 17, 2021.

Held at the new City Hall, 178 participants joined the race which started at 5:00 in the morning. The activity aims to set up physical wellness activities such as running to strengthen the camaraderie among runners and athletes, as well as promote good health and lifelong fitness among participants.

There were five categories namely, 3k, 5k open and CGM Employees, 10k, and 21k. The registration was done online and was limited for Malaybalay residents only.

Dexter P. Gamo, LYDOfficer III/Sports Designate Coordinator, expressed his gratitude for the cooperation and involvement of marshals, liasons and various crew which made the event a success despite the pandemic. “There are many things to be grateful for, and one of them is our fitness level which we have the ability to walk, jog or run at a given distance,” he added.

Different offices were involved in the facilitation of the event while observing minimum public health standards. These include Traffic Management Center (TMC), Philippine National Police (PNP), City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO), City Health Office (CHO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), City Administrator’s Office and City Band.

The proceeds of this cause will benefit the CICL (Children In Conflict with the Law) and Abused Children at the CSWDO white house as a continuation of “Share Love, Share Hope.”
