In order to strengthen established laws and reduce public nuisance, the Traffic Management Center (TMC) and Philippine National Police (PNP) conducted a joint operation to seize motorcycles with modified mufflers last December 5-6, 2020, along the streets of Malaybalay City.

Pursuant to Republic Act 8749, also known as “regulating and controlling emissions of the unwanted sound of a known source passed into the atmosphere,” at least ten motorcycles with modified mufflers, were successfully impounded during the operation.

TMC together with the PNP thanked everyone who provided information and cooperation leading to apprehension of motorcycles with modified mufflers also known as “bora-bora”. These kinds of motorcycles had caused public disturbance since most owners of such, race in streets without lights, jeopardizing the safety of other motorists and pedestrians.

Alongside, Executive Assistant V Roberto T. Flores and Executive Assistant IV Brian Nelson T. Flores strongly supported the Special Task Force to fully enforce the law. TMC Chief Amadeo Tabequero Jr. also regularly monitors the Special Task Force led by Traffic Operation Officer IV Joseph Jabla.

The City authorities urged all motorists to observe traffic laws and rules and keep the City of Malaybalay safe from road accidents.
