Traffic violators opt for community service instead of paying fees

Pursuant to Section 86 of the City Ordinance No. 900, series of 2019, the Traffic Management Center (TMC) has started to accept community service in lieu of paying the fine from traffic violators who could not pay the administrative fine/s imposed for their violations. The rate of service rendered is eight hours for every Php 500.00 worth of imposable fine.

The community service initially started on October 28, 2019 at the TMC impounding area. Their services include grass cutting, and among others relative to the beautification and clean and green program of the City.

Traffic violators will also undergo a seminar on traffic rules and regulations handled by TMC personnel. Said attendance will be credited as part of the community service to be rendered. The activity was supervised by Special Operations Officer IV Amadeo A. Tabequero, Jr., along with Traffic Enforcers Noel D. Jaroy and Diosdado S. Samonlay.

Upon completion, they will be issued a certification to effect the required community work. Thus, discharging them legal liability provided under Article XVIII, Section 81 of the said Ordinance.
