The City Government of Malaybalay under the proactive leadership of Mayor Florencio T. Flores, Jr., in coordination with the National Housing Authority (NHA) represented by Regional Manager Rolando I. Teves, Jr. along with District Manager Engr. Madeleine Gilda S. Abellera turned over the first tranche cheque worth Php 15 million for the Daraghuyan Tribal Village Indigenous People (IP) Housing Project on June 9, 2021.

The Daraghuyan-Bukidnon community led by tribal chieftain, Bae Inatlawan Adelina D. Tarino was delighted to receive the grant in a ceremony at the People’s Hall, City Hall. Being tagged as the first ever recipient of IP-designed housing village, Bae Inatlawan expressed her thanks to Mayor Flores and NHA who were behind in the realization of this project. She said, it is a dream come true for the tribe.

Two tribal engineers Datu Doms Aligpulos Decano and Datu Dumapal designed the structure in line with their traditional housing concept, art, and functions with the help of Kitanglad Integrated NGO Executive Director Esterluna Canoy, NHA field Engr. Murillo and the City Government through the City Housing Office for the finalization of the plan.

As the host barangay of the project, Punong Barangay Raul Pandong gave his welcome remarks. Subsequently, Vice Mayor Jay Warren R. Pabillaran and Councilor Kathleen Cecille C. Pagaling shared their respective brief messages to the beneficiaries.

Also present to witness the event were City Administrator Herculano S. Ronolo, City Accountant Carlito Juarez, City Planning and Development Coordinator Engr Adrian R. Gamboa, City Budget Officer Arlene Ho, City Treasurer Rosie T. Dumas, City Engineering-OIC Engr. Roy A. Lapuz, and the whole City Urban Development and Housing Division (CUDHO) staff facilitated the event headed by Perfecto Ray D. Bayo, Jr.
