Barangay Mapulo was created under RA 3590 on 1960. It has a total land area of 2,625 hectares. It is bounded in the north by Barangay Caburacanan, in the south by Barangay Silae, in the east by Barangay Zamboanguita and in the west by SitioKilap-agan, Can-ayan. Moreover, the barangay is 45 kilometers away from Poblacion Malaybalay.

The barangay is subdivided into 3 puroks and 3 zones. A purok/zone is a term designated to political subdivisions which are managed by their own sets of leaders. The table below will identify these puroks and zones.
