To clarify the issue circulating that a resident of Malaybalay City has been found COVID-19 positive…

THIS IS NOT TRUE!!!

A resident of Cebu City, with roots in Malaybalay, was tested positive.

The person was in Malaybalay City from March 11 to 14, 2020 to attend the wake and burial of his relative. The said person was back in Cebu on March 14, and he was hospitalized on March 17. He passed away on March 23, 2020 and the tests came out on March 27.

Rest assured, protocols of tracking down all individuals and households who were in contact with patient has been done since after patient was admitted.

With the help of the Brgy Casisang officials, the City Health Office and the BHERTS, we were able to round up the people in contact with the person… and so far, we have recorded PUIs displaying symptoms.

With regards to the persons now in a prepared facility in Brgy Patpat. the two (2) individuals were found to have had contact with the deceased patient sometime March 11 to 14. These two are now at the Malaybalay City PUI facility to ensure everyone’s safety; they are being closely monitored.

But these 2 individuals CANNOT be called positive as they have not been tested; they have shown symptoms and are being closely monitored. The BPMC medical technologist will be taking swab samples from the two PUI’s tomorrow, March 30, 2020 to be sent for testing for COVID-19.
