City Government of Malaybalay through the Office of the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) Representative celebrates annual IPs month by virtue of Republic Act 8371 also known as Indigenous Peoples Right Act.
IP mandatory representative, City Councilor Bede Blaise S. Omao spearheads the city’s celebration on October 25 – 26, 2016 at City of Malaybalay.
Councilor Omao said that the 2-day activity will highlight the importance of IP culture and to showcase the richness of custom and tradition of its idyllic communities in 46 barangays of the City.
Celebrating its 19th year, the mandate heightens participation of Philippine Indigenous Peoples’ Rights. It also promotes preservation of Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICCs) as part of the Life of the Nation.
Schedule of activities are as follows: Day One – Ritual, 6:00AM at the Provincial Capitol Grounds followed by Motorcade at 8:00 AM and sports Olympic starts at 9:00 AM. Later in the day, IP Night Presentation will be held at Kaamulan Folk Arts Theatre at 6:00 PM.
Day two, different IP representatives of ICCs will hold a Capacity Building at the same venue in Kaamulan Folk Arts Theatre.
