City Agri turns over P 3M projects to RBOs

At least Php 3 million worth of agricultural projects were turned over by the City Agriculture Office for the Mid-Year of 2017 to different Rural Based Organizations (RBOs).

These projects were funded under Department of Agriculture bottoms-up budgeting, Agri-Pinoy Rice and HVCDP Program and the City Government of Malaybalay.

On May 5, 2017, a mass turnover of farm machineries and facilities was held at Farmers’ Training Center, City Agriculture office Compound, Casisang, Malaybalay City.

City Vice Mayor Roland F. Detecio and City Councilor Anthony Canuto G. Barroso led the turnover of 10 units Hand Tractors to the members of Irrigators Association, 99 units Knapsack Sprayer and 66 units Plow to 33 members of the City Agricultural & Fishery Council (CAFC). The farm implements amounted to Php 555,500.00.

Meanwhile, in answer to the necessity of far-flung villages to cater farm produce of the small farmers, Barangay Food Terminal or Barangay Trading Center project was proposed. With this, the project partners envision to put up a food terminal or trading center as a venue for the farmers to market their farm products.

Thus, on June 13, 2017, the City Agriculture Office turned over supplies and facilities for the Barangay Food Terminal project worth Php 990,000.00 to the three recipients: Silae Lumad Consumers Cooperative, Kulaman Rural Improvement Club and Mapayag Rural Improvement Club. The recipients had also undergone Financial Literacy Training/Seminar to aid them in handling properly their financial records.

Last July 14, 2017 during the 2nd Quarterly Meeting of the Corn Grower’s Association (CGA), City Vice Mayor Roland F. Detecio led the turnover of the following projects: 9 units Corn Shellers to 9 Corn Grower’s Association worth P1,440,000.00, 10 units 16L capacity Knapsack Sprayer to 5 Vegetable Farmers Association worth P20,500.00 and 21 units Rotary Weeder to 7 Irrigator’s Association worth P100,317.00.
