The City Health Office is situated at Barangay 4 Freedom Park Malaybalay City. The Barangay 4 owned the space provided for the City Health Office to occupy. It is a health facility with 52 Barangay Health Stations and a workforce composed of Doctors, Nurses, Medical Technologists, Dentist, Pharmacist, Radiologic Technologist, Non- Medical Staff, Midwives, Dental Aides, Pest Control Worker, Nutritionist, Health Education and Promotion Officer, Sanitary Inspectors, active BHWs, BNS and Laboratory Aides.
An agency which aims to provide quality, preventive, promotive, consultative and rehabilitative health services through the resources provided by the LGU and other partner agencies.
To develop a healthy, productive and self reliant constituents living in an ecologically balanced society.
A.To make the marginalized members of the society become healthy, self-reliant and attain long life by:
1.Providing accessible & affordable quality preventive, promotive, consultative & rehabilitative health services;
2.Strengthening collaboration & coordination of lgu, ngo’s, po’s & go’s.
3.Intensifying iec on health programs;
4.Upgrading health facilities;
5.Enhancing staff capabilities to be able to meet the challenge of the 21st century;
6.Maximising the resources provided by the lgu & other partner agencies;
7.Maintaining an ecologically balanced community.
B.Aims for the upliftment of the health status of the constituents toward a progressive & productive management of health services with improved quality of life for sustainable development thereby reducing morbidity & mortality.
C.Shall take lead in the implementation of health programs, projects & activities; promote strong multisectoral level partnership & mobilize resources thru a strong political will and unity.
History
1977 – Maam Aurora S. Togonon came to Malaybalay , Bukidnon & Malaybalay Municipal Health Office as a nurse under the headship of Dr. Angel B. Macapayad, Provincial Health Officer II of the province from Tarlac her home town.
1982 – Maam Delia Antipasado came to the Malaybalay Municipal Health Office as a nurse.

The City Health Office was awarded with 100,000 pesos cash grant from DOH- CHD NM for an Outstanding Performance in Family Planning Program.
The Maternal Death Review was conducted for the first time on February 7, 2003. It is a review on the circumstances surrounding the death of a pregnant woman, during child birth or within days after delivery.
Rabies Awareness Month spearheaded by the City Veterinary Office and City Health Office.
An Ordinance Establishing Policies and Guidelines for trained Hilots as partners in health care was signed into law C.O # 521.
Mapulo Lying in Clinic was inaugurated with DOH Assistant Secretary Nemesio T. Gako.

Program Implementation Review done per district, participated by barangay officials, midwives and City Health Office Staff basically to enhance active participation in the implementation of health programs on July, 2005.
Barangay Apo Macote, Kulaman and Caburacanan are the National Sandugo Awardees and Mayor Florencio T. Flores, Jr was awarded with the Sandugo Outstanding Executive Award.
Lung Month celebrated on August of 2005 giving free skin test with Purified Protein Derivative to children.
DMPA (Injection) training was held with the untrained midwives and nurses in the barangays
The PPMD of the City Health Office had the DOTS Referring Physicians Training which was attended by 50 physicians from public and private hospitals /clinics.
2006
A Symposium on Public- Private Mix DOTS was held at Loiza’s Pavilion with the Barangay Capatains, members of the media, representatives from the Department of Education and non- government agencies of Malaybalay City, in order to gain support and implementation of Tuberculosis Surveillance. ( January, 2006)
February 1, 2006 – Newborn Screening was launched at the City Health Office with Dr. Leslie Arcadio of Bethel Baptist Hospital as the guest physician for the activity. An average of 30 newborn babies screened every month.
The Private- Public Mix DOTS (PPMD) project is finally launched in the City of Malaybalay with the theme: “ TB AY DI SULIRANIN, TB AY KAYANG SUGOUIN”. In collaboration with other line agencies which is highlighted with a motorcade, cutting of ribbon and blessing of PPMD unit in the City Health Office. (February, 2006) guest speaker was Dr. Michael Voniates – Tuberculosis Medical Officer and World Health Organization representative other guest are Ms. Amelai G. Sarmiento- Executive Director of the Philippines Coalition Against Tuberculosis, dr. Julito C. Sabornido Jr. – Director IV of the Center for Health & Development- Region X, Public – Private Doctors of Malaybalay City.
February 28, 2006, Orally Fit Child Program for under six years old was launched. Toothbrush has been given for free with dental check-up and treatment.
Regular Barangay Health Workers district quarterly meeting is held, which is attended by Mayor Florencio T. Flores,Jr. and Councilor on Health Aurora F. Deticio and other personalities in recognition of the BHWs services and as well as to update on all health programs.
World TB Day was celebrated thru symposium at the Malaybalay City Hall with Dr. Vincent Troy del Mundo, as the guest speaker.
Regular monthly Local Health Board meeting is done to discuss matters on health, especially the need for improvement on quality health care services and issues to be addressed as soon as possible for the welfare of the populace. This is attended by the Mayor, SP on Health, Medical Doctors of the City Health Office, DOH- representative, and an NGO.
Diabetes Mellitus is increasing, thus the creation of Diabetes Club for the people of Malaybalay City is initiated with Dr. Antonio T. Sumbalan as the President last May 9, 2006. Every last Firday of the month the registered members are gathered for free Fasting blood sugar and medicines.
Sputum Microscopy Training held at Diocesan Formation Center, Impalambong , Malayballay City. Barangay Health Workers Tuberculosis Coordinator were created in every barangay and trained on proper sputum collection and smearing among TB symptomatic, so that early detection and treatment of positive clients will be addressed.
2007
February, 2007 – The City Health Office joined the campaign on Nationwide BP Screening to have 512 individuals taken blood pressure.
– BHWs convened for a quarterly meeting per district for health updates and their need addressed.
March 24, 2007 – World Tuberculosis Day was celebrated with the theme: “ TB anywhere is TB everywhere”.
April, 2007 – yearly Tuli is conducted
May – Nationwide activity on “ Sabay –sabay Pagpasuso sa mga bata” ages 0-2 years old.
July , 2007 – The Local Government Unit of Malaybalay City through the City Health Office received the National Sandugo Award for the third time with Mayor Florencio T. Flores, Jr along with other awardee barangays as Mapulo,, Sumpong, Miglamin, Zamboanguita, Simaya, Casisang and Linabo. The Blood Letting Coordinator Mr. Edwin C. Bayron and Dr. Dennid P. Sanglang received the cash incentive of 100,000.00 and the certificate of recognition.
July , 2007 — 32 Health workers were trained on herbal medicine production, tuina massage, reflexology and acupressure
August 9- 24, 2007 – Food Handlers Class is held with 12 speakers and 98 participants completed the 2 day seminar. Is a collaborative effort of Provincial and City Health Offices.
Whole month of August is the celebration of Lung Month. A re-orientation seminar was held with participating BHWs and midwives
A fellowship for the Lung Month celebration where Public Private Mix DOTS (PPMD) Partners and LGU Malayballay with CHO staff came to a fellowship for reaffirmation of commitment as partners
August,2007 – A Free Eye check- up and free Eye Glasses for the senior citizens with CHO and ten optometrist members of Bukidnon Optometric Society
September, 2007 – Free Fasting Blood Sugar and BP monitoring for diabetic patients were held every last Friday of the month. 650 members were registered
October 24-31, 2007 – is the Correctional week,Dr. Marnee Penaranda, psychologist spoke as the guest speaker
The CHO and MERU ( Malayballay Emergency Rescue Unit ) trained the 11 schools of the city. Rescue Olympics was held last November 17-18, 2007 with trained schools at the Provincial Capitol area. Managok National High School made it to take the winning prize.
November 14, 2007 – 12 schools (2600 students) had the Youth Health Interactive Forum to promote health and educate the youth on Sexually Transmitted Illnesses, Drug Abuse and Reproductive Health. The culmination was with the Speech Choir and Poster Making Contest.
December 2007 — Health Workers Day was celebrated and attended by the BHWs, BNS, Hilots and CHO employees with Dr. Julito Sabordino, Director as the guest speaker
2008
January of 2008 – Newborn Screening Symposium was held to increase awareness on congenital metabolic disorders
Dr. Dennis P. Sangalang attended the International Training Program on Medicine in the prevention of Newborn and Infant Mortality at Tel Aviv Israel.
February, 2007 – Bloodletting is scheduled weekly with the minimum collection of 20 bags per week
– Free Fasting Blood Sugar , free clinic and laboratory test right after Hataw exercise every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at Plaza Rizal
March 2008 – The CHO in cooperation with the Food Handlers Association of the city spearheaded the First Search for Best Delicacy with Ms. Golda E. Lim of Cake Boom won the first place.
March 2008 – World TB Day was celebrated through a Speech Choir Competition involving 8 schools of the city. Managok National High School won the competition then

Mayor florencio T. Flores, Jr.
-Malaybalay City Foodhandlers Association headed by their Mr. Roy Panes sponsored the supplemental Feeding at Laguitas Elementary School.
August of 2008 – the 8th Hataw Anniversay was held in a happy walk and exercise with the theme: Mag-Ehersisyo Tatlong Beses sa Isang Linggo, Para Katawan ay Sumigla”.at Malaybalay City Covered Court.
August of 2008 -The City of Malaybalay thru the City Health Office sponsored a free bone screening for senior citizens at Bukidnon State University with Dr. Betty Dy Mancao, the guest speaker.
August of 2008 – The Association of Bukidnon in America, New York City donated dialysis machines to the city government of Malaybalay. Malaybalay Polymedic General Hospital, Bethel Baptist Hospital and Valencia City Sanitarium Hospital are recipients of these machines. The turn- over ceremony was headed by Mr. Marlon Valcorza.
August of 2008 -The Ten Barangays who won the Regional & National Sandugo Awards are granted with 50,000 cash grant from the City Government of Malaybalay City.
September of 2008 – Barangay Nutrition Scholar of Barangay 3 Ms.Cristy Madayag underwent a whole day evaluation for the Search for Nationwide Best Performing BNS.
Doctors, Nurses and Midwives of the City Health Office attended the Field System Health Services Information System (FHSIS) version 8 at the Garden, Malaybalay City to provide summary data on health services delivery and selected program accomplishment indicators at the barangay.
September of 2008 – The City Government of Malaybalay Local Health Bard was evaluated for National Top LHB of the Philippines. Mayor Florencio T. Flores,Jr shared the best practices of the City Government.
October of 2008 – The City Health Office joined the nationwide campaign on breastfeeding with the theme: “ Sabay-sabay Sumuso sa Nanay “. 5o lactating mothers joined the campaign
October 0f 2008 – The City Government of Malaybalay sponsored the Central District Inter-local Health Zone Quarterly Meeting for Mayors, MHOs Provincial Coordinators and City Coordinators are participants. Issues and concerns on health and best practices of every municipality and city were shared and discussed. Dr. Policarpio Murillo – President of Bukidnon Medical Society was the special guest speaker of the occasion.
October 3 & 7, 2008 – Mayor Florencio T. Flores,Jr. was invited to speak before the 6th Newborn Screening Convention last October 3, 2008 at Heart Center Cebu City for Luzon and Visayan and October 7 , 2008 at Pearlmont Inn, Cagayan de Oro City for the Mindanao Group. Due to his utmost support to the program, he was made the speaker for this event. He made the approval of the adoption made for the Newborn Screening Act and institutionalizing the NBS in Malaybalay City and made the fees subsidized.
The City of Malaybalay received an award as the 3rd Placer for the Search for Best Local Health Board in the Philippines during the 76th Annual Convention of the Philippine Public Health association at Manila. (October, 2009).
Barangay Nutrition Scholar of Barangay 3 Ms. Cristy Madayag was awarded as the 3rd Top Performing BNS in the Philippines with Barangay Captain Michael Daniot, City Administrator Rolando P. Daniot, CNAO Maria Rica Raguro and Barangay 3 midwife and councilor at PICC Hall.( November, 2008).
November of 2008 – 71 BNS underwent a 5 day training at Loiza’s Pavillion with Ms. Lydia Senoron – Provincial Nutrition Coordinator as the speaker.
December 2008 – The Philippine Pharmacist Association Bukidnon Chapter held a free clinic at the City Health Office.
December 2008 – All doctors, nurses and some midwives of CHO attended the training on Diabetic Management at Valaencia City with Dr. Rhodora Cabunillas – Internist Diabetologist Bukidnon as trainer.
December of 2008 – Health Workers Day held, Barangay 9 BHW won as Ms. Health Workers 2008.
December 2008 – Barangay San Jose mothers graduated the Pabasa sa Nutrition
December 2008 – NBS Support Group was created, and a seminar was conducted about understanding G6PD deficiency with Dr. Dennis Absin, a pediatric neonatologist.
2009
January of 2009 – CHO with PDEA X hold the medical – dental mission at Can-ayan residents to receive free consultation, dental extraction and medicines.
Buntis Day was celebrated with 129 pregnant women attendees. One was chosen as Ms. Buntis 2009. Dr. Shiela Gay Bragat, Ob- Gynecologist and Dr. Yvette Pallasigue are the guest speakers, February 2009.
Program Implementation Review and planning workshop for City Health Office was held at Pearlmont Inn, Cagayan de Oro City. It is deemed necessary for the office to review all program accomplishments for 2008 and prepare the plans for 2009, February 2009.
The City of Malaybalay sponsored the Bukidnon Dental Health Month culmination activity. It is an awareness activity to promote the importance of oral health care amongst preschoolers and primary grade schoolers. There is the free dental clinic, tooth brushing drill and toothbrush distribution and the search for Mr. & Ms. Healthy Smile (February, 2009)
Thirty Five (35) clients opted for a permanent Family Planning Method and submitted themselves to Bilateral Ligation at the City Health Office sponsored by Marie Stopes Foundation, Inc. (March 2009).
A symposiums in the schools and other institutions on AH1N1 for a massive information dessimination in order to prevent panick and complications and death. (June, 2009).
Nutrition Month was celebrated at Barangay 9 Covered Court attended by the City Nutrition Committee Members, Vice- Mayor Inaki W. Zubiri, Barangay Nutrition Committee members and Ms. Rachel Blanco, RND instructor at Central Mindanao University as the guest speaker. (July 2009)
Dr. Pedrito Tagayuna, Medical Specialist IV at the Philippine Blood Center spoked to the Convocation Program sponsored by the City Health Office. The Barangays who won the the Sandugo Awards were presented. (July 2009).
Fruit Tree planting was done with the 200 City Health Office staff and volunteer health workers at Mapulo Lying-in Clinic as part of the Lung Month celebration. (July 2009).
Free Bone Screening, Fasting Blood Sugar and ECG Screening to 303 city government employees was done on July 2009.
A 5 Day Live-in Seminar on the Promotion of Good Nutrition for Midwives, Barangay Nutrition Scholars, BHWs and Breastfeeding Mothers at CMU Farmers Training Center to equip them on Infant Young Child Program.(July 2009).
Mayor Florencio T. Flores,Jr. and Dr. Mary Jean Diao did the ribbon cutting of the new City Health Office laboratory. The turn-over ceremony and blessing has been participated by CHO staff and Barangay 4 Council. (August 2009)
Newborn Screening was brought to the far flung areas of Malaybalay City. The City Government subsidized the 50% the cost to ensure that all newborns are given equal opportunity to be screened. ( September, 2009).
Mr. Jeff Long and the volunteer kids from California extended help to 59 undernourished kids of barangay 1. ( September ,2009).
In celebration of the Elderly Filipino Week, the City Health Office , Office of the Senior Citizen,Committee of German Doctors and the Local Government Unit of Malaybalay launched the Primary Eye Care Program with the lecture on eye care, provision of 300 free reading glasses and free cataract operation with the 85 senior citizens. (October, 2009).
STI/HIV/AIDS Forum and planning for secondary school teachers, school nurses and guidance councilors in preparation for the World aids Day celebration. (October, 2009).
The City Government thru the City Health Office is a finalist for the Search for Most Outstanding Healthy Lifestyle Advocate in the Philippines. Dr. Dennis P. Sangalang and Dr. Marcille Orong received the Healthy Lifestyle National Award at Heritage Hotel Manila.
Series of symposiums has been conducted in all secondary schools of Malaybalay City. this is to advocate on the fight against STI/HIV/AIDS amongst the youth spearheaded by Dr. Grace Fe Buquiran. ( November, 2009).

The National Evaluation Team declared Ms. Alfonsa P. Hingpit as the 2009 second runner- up for the National Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar.The National Awarding Ceremony was held on November 4-5, 2010 at Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City.
Mapulo Lying-in Clinic celebrates the 11th year anniversary @ Upper Pulangui District. Free medical & dental consultation with treatment was held.
Mass blood smearing and distribution of nets to the residents of Upper Pulangui District ( Malaria –endemic prone areas) by the Malaria Team.
Orientation on Malaria Surveillance & Vector Control (MASUVECO) was conducted at the barangays of Upper Pulangui District. This is to organize MASUVECO team in their respective barangays.
Maternal Death Review with the theme: “NO woman should die giving life”.This was attended by gynecologist, pediatrician & PHO staff to assist on the comprehensive assessment of the cases.
Lecture on alternative medicine was conducted to 88 participants at Mama Lo’s Kusina. Dr. Jesucifa Lao Sodusta – author of the book Natural Remedy was the resource speaker.
The Healthy Lifestyle Program conducted the free fasting blood sugar, free ankle-brachial index, group & individual diabetes counseling, gestational diabetes education & free AH1N1 vaccination to known diabetics & members of Diabetes Mellitus Club of Malaybalay City.

World TB Day was celebrated with the theme “ On the Move Against Tuberculosis: Innovate to Accelerate Action.” A reorientation was arranged for the BHWs on proper collection and smearing of sputum. ( March 17, 2011)
Long lasting Insecticide Treated nets are distributed for Manalog, Can-ayan, Kibalabag and Sumpong. (February 2011).
Health and Nutrition Program Implementation Review was done per district to review and assess performance and identify problem areas. Barangay Captains and Kagawad on Health are invited to this activity. ( March 2011).
Maternal Death Review is a yearly event. This one was held on April 7, 2011. % cases were presented and reviewed before the doctors, nurses, Barangay Captains, Kagawad on Health and midwives, Obstetrician- Gynecologists and Pediatricians who gave their views and recommendations to possible solutions to each case presented.
Measles Rubella supplemental immunization activity ( MR SIA) held last April 4 to May 30, 2011, a nationwide simultaneous activity on children ages 9 months to 7 years old. About 28,480 or 92.11 % of children immunized.
Free Eye check-up for Senior Citizens through the initiatives of Mayor Inaki W. Zubiri who provided it for free thoughout the 46 barangays. It was pushed through the four Opthalmologists Dr. Raymund Reyes, Dr. Teresita Mercado, Dr. Donato Lugumbay, Dr. Alma Villa Esconde from April to May 2011.
April 13, 2011 – CHO visited the detainees at the City Jail, Patpat, Malaybalay City. a team made a lecture and checks on their health conditions and gave medications.
An indoor residual spraying of K- Othrine for 130 households at Sitio Bongbongon, Sumpong, Malaybalay City right after the turn – over of spraying cans sponsored by SWISS solidarity HEKS TFM NC. ( April, 2011).
April 18, 2011 – Barangay Sumpong Health Workers were trained on Basic Malaria Management and Blood Smearing at Sumpong Barangay Session Hall, M.C. sponsored by Swiss Solidarity – HEKS, Inc.
May 12, 2011 – Capability Building activity was done at People’s Hall on the campaign against smoking with the City Health Office staff in order to capacitate the health workers and selected BHWs. Trainers were Dr. Gay Ardanas, Mr. Armand Ardanas and Dr. Raymund Reyes.
May 31, 2011 – World No Tobacco Day celebrated through a motorcade around the city of Malaybalay, followed by a short program
June and July 2011 – Interpersonal Communication and Counseling Training was held for all health service providers at Isabella’s Bistro.
Malaybalay City regularly conducts mobile blood donation for the 46 barangays and private institutions. Clients can avail blood at P200 per bag only.
The City Tuberculosis Diagnostic Committee regularly meets to assess PTB cases status.

Barangay Captains, newly appointed Botika ng Barangay Operators, selected CHO staff attended the Botika ng Barangay training last July 2011 at Mama Lo’s Kusina.
The City Government of Malaybalay celebrated the 11th Hataw Anniversary with the theme: “ Ehersisyong Pangkalusugan para sa Lahat “. It begun in an early morning walk to the City Covered Court followed by a short program of whom Dr. Heherson Cui, Orthopedic Physician spoke.
A Lay Forum on G6PD Deficiency, Galactosemia, and Congenital Hypothyroidism that address the need for information of parents. This was held at Haus Malibu, Malayballay City with Dr. Conchita Abarquez, a geneticist of NSC- Mindanao Unit Head discussed on G6PD while Dr. Eleonor C. Du a Pediatric Endocrinologist discussed the Galactosemia and Congenital Hypothyroidism. The City Health Office this received the Second National Award for actively supporting the Newborn Screening program. (September, 2011).
The First Local Aids Council of Malaybalay City did convene on October 18, 2011 at Isabella’s Bistro. The RAAT Team had the comprehensive training on STI/HIV/AIDS with the Center for Health Development Region X facilitated the training for the members of the Local Aids Council. Most of the trainees were members of SHASlink Malaybalay. (October, 2011).
The City Health Office physicians, nurses and midwives had the Basic Emergency Obstetric Newborn Care (BEmonc) Reorientaion at Loiza’s Pavillion last November 16, 2011. This is to address and help reduce or eliminate maternal and perinatal deaths in the city.
An awareness parade on HIV/AIDS along the highway to the Malaybalay City covered Court for the World aids Day celebration. Students displayed their posters while on parade for this is a competion among students from different schools. The theme was “ZER HIV” This happened on December 1, 2011.
The 7th Health Workers Day celebrated on December 2, 2011 at the Malaybalay City Covered Court with the theme “ Panaghiusa, Kaakohan, Dlan sa Kalambuan”. Guest speaker was Dr. Jose Llacuna, Jr. Assistant Director III of the Center for Health and Development Region X.

BemONC/MDG Consultative Meeting was called up among BemONC/MDG trained Midwives of the City Health Office last August 23, 2012 at Yoly’s Fast Food. It was initiated by the MNCHN Coordinators headed by Dr. Ma. Lovilla Hernandez.
A Nationwide Simultaneous Hataw sa Northern Mindanao was an event called up for government employees spearheaded by the City Health Office on September 23, 2012.
During Mondays, the City Health Office employees start the week with a Flag ceremony. In here was discussed the concerns for the week and announced.
The City Health Office joins the Stinger Team who loudly yell and dance for success during the Civil Service month long celebration on September through field demonstration, ball games and track’ n field to eventually hailed the Champ.

March 1, 2018 – HIV Awarenes Seminar and Testing at Bukidnon State University. Out of 100 students, 27 of which voluntarily submitted themselves to HIV test. Dr. Susan Marie Punongbayan spoke to these crowd on HIV 101 and Ms. Nemesia Babanto for Sexually Transmitted Infections.

September, 2018 – The City Health Office Schistosomiasis Team scheduled the Malacological Survey at Barangay Simaya Purok 6 Spring in 3 areas where snails are collected and examined for infection rate of cercaria trematode worms, and the presence of strongyloids vermicularis and escherichia coli.
September 3, 2018 – National Red Orchid Awards Validation for the Local Government Unit of Malaybalay held at the City Health Office. This was the first time the LGU were nominated and the first LGU in Bukidnon to have gotten the recognition in the National level.
September to November, 2018 – The Fogging Team and communities took an action due to the upsurge of the dengue cases around Malaybalay. Massive clean- up was called up.
October 12, 2018 – The Local Government Unit of Malaybalay City thru the City Health Office has been awarded 1st Placer Rural Health Unit of the 2nd Class Local Government Units in the Region X. It was held at Pearlmont Hotel , Cagayan de Oro City during the Northern Mindanao Harmonized Awarding. Programs that contributed to this achievement are awards for the Red Orchid Awards for Tobacco Control Program, Exclusive Breastfeeding, Infant and Young Child Feeding, Mental Health, Sandugo (Mobile Blood Donation ) Facility Based Delivery, Family Planning, Garantisadong Pambata, soil Transmitted Helminthiasis, Schistosomiasis, Tuberculosis- HIV and Nutrition Program. A cash grant was also received by the agency.
The Non- Communicable Disease team visited the 46 barangays for registration of Persons with Disabilities (PWD), assessment on mentally ill patients, and assessments with the Persons Who Use Drugs (PWUD), and consultation , screening for Primary Eye Care.
October 25 – November 29, 2018 – Malaybalay City held the schedules of Forum for all LGU offices to the raise awareness and increase the knowledge of the constituents of the city on the ill effects of Tobacco smoke/second Hand smoke, promoting the City Ordinance No. 885 Known as The Revised Malaybalay City Smoke Free Ordinance.
Tobacco Control Forum to the Public conveyances , Food and Non- Food establishment of the city. they are oriented on the ill effects of tobacco and the provisions of the ordiance, the concept o 100% smoke free zone for the specific areas of the city and the application of 100 meter ban of tobacco products from the perimeters of a specific public place. Every establishment has to know their responsibilities and the penalties for offenses.
The City Health Office joined with Hatud Serbisyo bringing its services to the door steps of the communities. These services rendered by the agency are Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid for women and direct referral of patients for sputum examination, health education on health and nutrition, dental examination, medical consultation with free medicines, basic laboratory tests.

Ms. Glenda Dahilog of Purok 1 Can-ayan, Malaybalay City is 2nd placer for the Best Gulayan sa Tugkaran and received the P 7,000 cash prize along with 4 barangays that are Green Banner awardees of the said awarding ceremony.

LIGTAS COVID CENTER
With SARS-CoV-2 virus in our community overwhelmed the healthcare system due to the rise of COVID 19 cases. As a response, the Local Government Unit of Malaybalay City opened LIGTAS COVID CENTER quarantine facility at Barangay Patpat, with license to operate duly approved by the Department of Health Center for Health Development – Northern Mindanao. The quarantine facility is managed by the City Health Office of Malaybalay headed by Dr. Dennis P. Sangalang, MD- City Health Officer II and supervised by Ms. Maria Rica E. Raguro, RN, MAN. Nurses from the Local Government Unit and Nurses under the Human Resource for Health from the Nurse Deployment Program of the Department of Health, are among those handling the COVID-19 patients at the facility 24/7. Other workers include, Barangay Health Workers from nearby barangays and utility workers are assigned at the Local COVID Center. The facility admitted patients contracted with COVID-19 disease with mild to moderate symptoms. About 581 clients admitted and cared for and discharged as recovered.
Quarantine Facility
In 2021, a total of 1,431 COVID-19 confirmed patients/probable patients were admitted at Ligtas COVID Center and to other 3 quarantine facilities in the city.
Patients were admitted for 14 days, given care and treatment then discharged as recovered. There are also patients referred to a hospital for further management and treatment.
3 – Day National Vaccination Days
A 3-day 1st National Vaccination kicked off activity on November 29, 2021 at the Enhanced Screening Area (ESA) – one of the Malaybalay City’s vaccination sites.
Hon. Doc Boy Florencio Jr. Flores, City Mayor was present and gave his message. Dr. Susan Punongbayan gave the opening program and Dr. Vincent C. Raguro, DOH- DMO V gave a short message on our quest to achieve that herd immunity.
About 17,582 were vaccinated on the said activity.
LIGTAS COVID CENTER VAN TYPE ROOM BLESSING AND TURN OVER
The Office of the Civil Defense turned over the 8 van type rooms located at Ligtas COVID Center compound to the City of Malaybalay last December 10, 2021.
The short program started with the blessing of the rooms and followed with the turn over ceremony with the City Mayor Hon. Florencio T. Flores Jr.
Launching of the COVID-19 Vaccination Roll-out for 12-17 population
Last November 15, 2021, the COVID-19 Vaccination Roll-out for 12-17 population was launched at Malaybalay City Jollibee Drive-thru. This was attended by Dr. David Mendoza, DOH-CHDNM 10 and Dr. Vincent Raguro, DMO V were present. About 831 of the 12 – 17 years old were vaccinated.
Simulation activity at the Enhancement Screening Area
The office concluded its first simulation for COVID19 vaccination on March 08, 2021 attended by various representatives both from the Local Government Unit, Provincial and National Offices. The simulation activity is one of the most crucial stage before conducting the vaccination proper.

The City Government of Malaybalay led by City Health Office has given its best by providing all the necessary needs for the vaccination activities. Despite pandemic and lack of manpower, the Vaccination Team has exerted their best efforts and united in preparing its activities at the Triage area. Indeed, in unity there is strength. It’s the strength of many, the power of one as a team.
Vaccination for A1 category
The vaccination started in the City with its first group for all the frontliners (A1) last March 15, 2021. The activity was crowded which comprises of the following: Barangay Health Workers, Contact Tracers, Barangay Health Emergency Response Team, Nurses, Police, Soldiers and the rest of the A1 category.
The vaccinator has a master list of priority and eligible population, possible vaccination centers were identified, available cold chain storages and other logistical requirements were ensured.
