A total of 33 local employers from Cotabato, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, and Lanao Area, and four overseas recruitment agencies have attended. Over 3,000 job vacancies were posted during the two-day event. There were a number of applicants who were hired-on-the-spot by various employers, and many other applicants were yet to complete their requirements or have their final interviews.
The fruitful collaboration between the City Government of Malaybalay and the Provincial Government of Bukidnon, successfully conducted the Bukidnon-wide local and overseas Job Fair organized by Malaybalay Public Employment Services Office (PESO), Provincial Government of Bukidnon PESO, and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Bukidnon last October 14 & 15, 2022 at the Folk Arts Theater, Kaamulan Grounds and at the Centennial Stage, Capitol Grounds, Malaybalay City, respectively.
In his message, Malaybalay City Mayor Jay Warren R. Pabillaran highlighted the role of private partner-employers and government in its contribution to the nation’s development and local economy. “Dili nato ikalalis nga ang private companies mao gyud ang backbone gayud sa atung katilingban. Dili gyud ang gobyerno. Ang trabaho sa gobyerno support services ra siya…”
The event was attended by Provincial Administrator Cherry Pepito on behalf of Governor Rogelio Niel P. Roque, Ms. Mayela Jumalon, PESO Bukidnon HR Staff on behalf of Ms. Aida Loveres, Provincial PESO- Designate, Mayor Jay Warren R. Pabillaran, City Mayor, and City Administrator & PESO Manager of Malaybalay, Atty. Anna Marie R. Bergado.
Participating National Agencies such as the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Pag-IBIG (Valencia City), and Philhealth, also provided a basic one-stop-shop services. The City Health Office enjoins the event with its Covid-19 vaccination drive. The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)- Philippine Army also participated in the recruitment of at least 400 applicants for Officer Candidate Course.
One of the hired-on-the-spot production workers, Rosemie R. Embajadora, expressed her appreciation for the said event. “Naghulat ko sa sakto nga opportunity og wala ko magdahom nga ma hired on the spot ko. Grateful ko kay na hire ko karong adlawa,” said Embajadora.
The two-day activity aims to facilitate employment opportunities for the displaced workers during the height of the pandemic and for job seekers across Bukidnon was a success.
