The activity aimed to capacitate and empower the City’s population volunteers so they are fully equipped carrying out their task at the barangay level. During the activity, the 47 participants were able to refresh their learning and acquire new knowledge with the help of resource persons from the Provincial Population & Development Office population program officers, namely, Joan M. Espanueva, Jorey John C. Barredo and Cristy B. Bagasbas. CHO nurse Maria Rica E. Raguro also added to their learning.

The participants were taught about what every community member should know on the significance of fertility awareness, family planning methods and the myths and misconception about modern family planning methods.

It was emphasized in the workshop that BSPOs must understand their roles and responsibilities, and devote their hearts in serving the community in order to embrace change which must begin within them as a community servant.

The City Health Office also shared their expertise on the demonstration for the home visit guidelines and encouraged every volunteer to pursue their chosen path.

This retooling activity embarked new things on their journey as population volunteers, which is to improve themselves and inspire their community, and to carry out their dreams and passion.

This activity was made possible and successful because of the support of City Government of Malaybalay headed by City Mayor Jay Warren Pabillaran, POPDEV Bukidnon, the City Health Office, and their officers and personnel.
