The students and faculty of Cagayan De Oro College (COC) Phinma Education’s College of Management and Accountancy, Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management, recently embarked on an exciting journey to explore the wonders of Malaybalay City. The visit, filled with educational experiences and cultural exchanges, was warmly facilitated by Senior Tourism Operations Officer Sir Marven Jan A. Nadela and the dedicated City Tourism personnel.
Upon their arrival, the students and faculty were graciously welcomed by the city’s dignitaries. A highlight of their visit was the opportunity to meet Malaybalay City’s esteemed Mayor, Jay Warren R. Pabillaran. The visitors expressed their gratitude and enthusiasm by showcasing a vibrant dance presentation, which was met with applause and appreciation.
The itinerary for the day was meticulously planned to provide a comprehensive glimpse into the cultural and historical richness of Malaybalay City. The first stop was the Abbey of the Transfiguration and its accompanying museum, where visitors marveled at the serene beauty and spiritual significance of the site. This was followed by an insightful tour of TWWA local products, offering a taste of the region’s unique craftsmanship and entrepreneurial spirit.
Next on the agenda was a visit to the Kaamulan Tree Park, a lush, verdant space that celebrates the indigenous cultures and traditions of Bukidnon. The students and faculty immersed themselves in the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the park. The tour continued with an educational exploration of the Provincial Zoological Park, home to a diverse array of wildlife and a testament to the region’s commitment to conservation.
The final destination was the Bukidnon State University Studies Center Museum, where the group delved into the rich academic and historical artifacts of the area. This visit provided a deeper understanding of the educational landscape and historical context of Malaybalay City.
This hands-on experience allowed the students and faculty to immerse themselves in the local culture and attractions, gaining valuable insights into the tourism industry. Such educational tours not only broaden their horizons but also strengthen ties between different cities, fostering a spirit of collaboration and mutual learning.
