In a bid to support government’s aggresive initiative to accelerate the nationwide vaccination roll-out, the City Government of Malaybalay has accomplished a record-breaking 13,943 Covid-19 vaccine jabs during the intensified 3-day vaccination drive.

Dubbed as “Bayanihan Bakunahan,” Mayor Florencio T. Flores, Jr. graced the event during the kick-off on November 29 in which a total of 6,103 jabs were administered, the highest ever recorded in a single day.

The following day coincided with Bonifacio day and recorded 2,547 vaccines deployed.

On the third day, DOH Assistant Secretary, Dr. Roy B. Ferrer visited the main vaccination site of the City Government together with key officials of DOH Region 10, Dir. Jose R. Llacuna, Jr., MD and ARD Ellenieta N. Gamolo, MD. Later in the day, DILG Provincial Director Carmelo Libot also witnessed the on-going vaccination of thousands of vaccinees.

To cap the successful activity, Asec Ferrer administered a single jab to one of the vaccinees. At least 5,293 were vaccinated on the last day held at two vaccination sites at Enhance Screening Area (ESA) and Malaybalay City Central Elementary School, Brgy. 4.

Mayor Flores thanked the tremendous support of the people to get vaccinated. “This is a testament that we are willing to go to the same direction living up to the nation’s Bayanihan Spirit as we move forward to Heal as One,” he added.

More than 400 frontliners and volunteers joined forces to handle the overwhelming number of vaccinees. These include the attendance of CHO medical personnel and staff, BukSu, DepEd, Red Cross, BJMP, BFP, IMT, CDRRMO, TRC, and City ENRO.

As of December 1, 2021, a total of 148,971 vaccines were deployed placing the City with 41.70% fully vaccinated and 75.87% of the target eligible population had their first dose.
