The City Govenment of Malaybalay has resumed the annual evaluation of Galing Barangay, coined as “Gabay” after two years since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Barangays were assessed through their performance in four major areas in administration, social services, economic development, and environmental management.

The monthlong activity visits all 46 barangays of the City that started last April 4, 2022.

Barangay officials who were already evaluated were grateful of this initiative of the City government through the coordination of DILG-Malaybalay being the lead-agency and secretariat.

“We are challenged of implementing various services and programs amid the pandemic but we are still thankful that we have accomplished some if not all as required by the evaluating team,” said one of the brgy officials during the feedbacking.

Gabay served as guide in the effective and efficient delivery of barangay governance. It aims to invigorate various areas to be implemented geared towards sustainable development at the grassroots level.

Gabay is also a mechanism designed to recognized barangays for the following reasons to: strengthen good barangay governance; stimulate innovations; determine the present level of competence and performance of the barangay; provide valuable information in surfacing for the more effective barangay government administration; highlights exemplary and excellent performance and service delivery of the barangay; and institutionalized a system of providing incentives and awards to the best performing barangays.

Evaluation teams were comprised of offices from City Administrator, City Mayor’s, City Health, City Treasurer, City Budget, City Accounting, DIlG-Malaybalay, City ENRO, CSWDO, Sangguniang Panlungsod, CDRRMO, CPDO, City Agriculture, and CGSO.
