The Barangay Government of Aglayan, Malaybalay City headed by Hon. Glorio D. Sajulga held its 1st Binaki Festival 2024 in celebration of their 32nd Araw ng Aglayan last April 18, 2024.

The culminating activity included a street dancing and a ground presentation at the covered court, with five (5) contingents whose performers hailed from 14 different puroks of the barangay.

Binaki – a steamed cake made mainly from corn, is a famous local delicacy of the barangay.

It is a Filipino snack for its sweet taste and texture best paired with coffee and also a pasalubong of visitors of the city.

The group performances depicted stories of the process of making Binaki. From planting and harvesting of corn to how they turn it into Binaki. All the groups performed with their own unique creativity in dancing with costumes and props matching the theme of the festival.

Ultimately, Group 5 whose members are from Purok 6A, B and C was declared as the over- all champion including their Festival Queen.

Hon. Sajulga and the Barangay Council extended invitations to Ms. Honolu Marie C. Cruzin, Supervising Tourism Operations Officer alongside Mr. Romeo Lapeciros of CEEDMO, Mr. Butch Melendez of Provincial Tourism Office, and Dr. Lincoln Tan of Bukidnon State University to serve as judges of the street, ground presentation and also the selection of Festival Queen.
