The Buntis Summit 2024 brought together teenage and high-risk pregnant women in Poblacion 2 District, Barangay Kalasungay, on August 27, 2024, for an event dedicated to promoting safe motherhood.
The summit, attended by local leaders and healthcare professionals, aimed to equip participants with vital knowledge and resources to ensure healthy pregnancies and safe deliveries.
Key figures at the event included Hon. Kathleen Cecille Pagaling, City Councilor, Ms. Jade Awa representing the Mayor’s Office, Barangay Captain Hon. Rodrigo Niere, and Melody Kaye Rebucas, MD, Medical Coordinator for Poblacion 2.
Participants received free hemoglobin, syphilis, and hepatitis B tests, alongside tokens of appreciation. In her address, Hon. Pagaling emphasized the importance of informed decision-making for a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery, praising all mothers as heroes in their own right. This also underscored the city’s commitment to empowering pregnant women with the knowledge and care needed throughout their pregnancies.
The activity featured lectures on prenatal care, nutrition, childbirth, postpartum care, family planning, and STI/HIV prevention, with hands-on support provided by midwives, barangay health workers, and health coordinators.
