In line with the celebration of National Children’s Month anchored to the theme “New Normal na Walang Iwanan: Karapatan ng Bata Ating Tutukan!”, the City Council for the Welfare of Children (CCWC) hosted a culminating activity on November 29, 2021.

Held at the 3rd Floor, People’s Hall, New City Hall, the event was also posted/streamed live on the City Government of Malaybalay’s page on Facebook in compliance with the new normal condition and minimum health standards.

The month-long celebration had activities such as Paint Me A Picture (High School and Children with Disabilities category), Collage Making (GradeSchool), Covidokumentaryo, Tiktok Dance Contest, and Mural Painting.

Mayor Florencio T. Flores, Jr. thanked the CCWC staff for doing their best despite the pandemic. “We should let our children know the importance of life. We have to strive and give them the education, care and good health they deserve,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, BNHS Supreme Student Council President Jamber Alexis Idulsa tackled children’s rights and concerns surrounding them. He stressed that nevertheless the gender, religion, culture, race, and beliefs, it does not matter. “Where you come from or what social status you might be in, everyone deserves to be treated equally and efficiently,” he added.

CCWC Vice-Chair/CSWDO-OIC Ivy Amor Urbina ended the activity by thanking the partners and stakeholders for the promotion of children’s rights. She highlighted that the ongoing global pandemic posed a greater challenge on the children’s rights but it doesn’t stop their will to continue addressing the issues affecting children in the new normal.
