Ordinance No. 981 s.2021 known as “Pag-amuma hu apu ha maama daw apu ha bahi” has been officially signed on October 26, 2021.

Authored by City Councilors Niko P. Aldeguer, Erwin A. Damasco and Victor M. Barroso, said ordinance is considered to be the first that enhances the support mechanism of RA 9994 or Expanded senior citizen act of 2010.

City Mayor Florencio T. Flores, Jr. expressed his full support of the said ordinance and led the ceremonial signing along with the presence of 2nd District Congressman Jonathan Keith Flores held at the Casisang Covered Court, this City.

Mayor Flores said that we need to continue to look after and administer the needs of our elderly. He emphasized that “In the City of Malaybalay, we love and care for our senior citizens”.

Meanwhile Congressman Flores added that “This is not just only a recognition but a continuing endeavor that we should sustain to support and nurture their various concerns.”

Councilor Aldeguer said he was inspired to legislate this coming from his advocacy. He also stressed that “It is difficult when a law is in place, but it is not prioritized.”

Councilors Erwin Damasco and Victor Barroso expressed their thoughts saying that “This will give more benefits to our senior citizens, as well as protect them and provide the attention they deserve to have.”

Present on the event were City Councilors Louel M. Tortola, Bonifacio Valiente, Renato S. Sumbongan and Dave Julian A. Balore. Atty. Phoebe Corzon C. Hidalgo, SP Secretary also graced the event along with the 46 Barangay Captains, Kagawads and Senior Citizen Presidents.
