A total of 28 personnel from the City Health Office (CHO) successfully completed a five-day Basic Life Support (BLS) and Standard First Aid (SFA) training held from October 7 to 11, 2024, at The Garden Party Venue. This marks the fourth batch of CHO personnel trained in emergency response as part of the city’s continuous effort to enhance health personnel capability in handling emergencies and disasters.
The training was conducted in line with Administrative Order No. 155 s. 2004, which mandates health personnel to undergo BLS and SFA training as part of the capability development program for health sector agencies.
The program aims to equip participants with the essential knowledge, skills, and attitude to manage emergencies and save lives, not only within health facilities but also in their own homes and communities.
Through the training, participants learned vital emergency care techniques, including rescue breathing, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the use of automated external defibrillators (AED), and the management of foreign body airway obstructions. They also practiced standard first aid procedures and techniques for carrying and transferring victims or patients during emergencies.
The personnel who completed the training will now serve as first responders, ensuring immediate care in case of emergencies until more advanced medical assistance arrives.
