The pandemic is not stopping the City Health Office from implementing their health programs, particularly in providing protection against rising cases of measles, rubella and the human papilloma virus (HPV).
The CHO will launch the Chikiting Luwas on October 26, 2020 where children aged 0 to 5 years (59 months and below) will be given free vaccinations in their barangay health centers. At the same time, the vaccinations against HPV which started a few weeks back will be continuously given as well to female children and teens aged 9 to 14 years old.
Dr. Dennis P. Sangalang, CHO chief, explained that they are doubling their efforts on ensuring children’s health against measles and rubella, particularly as there is a rise of cases here in Northern Mindanao. At the same time, he stressed that eleven deaths due to cervical cancer are reported daily in the Philippines. Hence, the CHO are campaigning strongly for female children and teens to avail of the free vaccine in their barangay health centers.
