The City Government of Malaybalay aims to support the agricultural sector particularly in rice production which is one of the primary commodities in the city. One of its strategies is to provide farm machineries to achieve its vision of having a vibrant economy.

On February 7, 2020, a brand new Caterpillar GC 313 backhoe worth Php 6.45-million was turned over to the City Agriculture Office. The brand new heavy equipment was funded by City Mayor Florencio T. Flores, Jr. to address the concerns on dam and canal siltation which hinders the efficiency of irrigated water to the ricefields.

The blessing of machineries was facilitated by Rev. Father Noel P. Pedregosa along with the presence of the Executive Assistant Roberto T. Flores, City Agriculture officer-in-charge, Engr. Naomie H. Delos Reyes and City Environment and Natural Resources Officer Ma. Anita L. Fernandez whose office also received the same equipment.

Operation and maintenance of the newly acquired unit will be handled by the Agricultural Engineering Section.
