The City Government of Malaybalay through the City Budget Office (CBO) spearheaded the 2019 Cheerdance Competition on November 23, 2019. The activity was in line with Children’s Month celebration anchored on the theme, “Karapatang Pambata: Patuloy na Pahalagahan at Gampanan Tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan.”

The different schools which competed in the annual event included Malaybalay City National Science High School, Casisang National High School (NHS), San Isidro High School Department, BNHS-Main, BNHS-Dalwangan annex, St. Peter NHS, Bangcud NHS and Can-ayan Integrated School. Thousands of students, their parents and school supporters filled the SIC gymnasium during the said event.

Casisang National High School contingent clinched the top spot, adding another feather in their cap. The reigning champion successfully defended their 5-year winning streak. San Isidro College came in second, and the Bukidnon National High School secured the third place.

All competing schools were also awarded with financial assistance by the City Government of Malaybalay under the strong support of City Mayor Florencio T. Flores, Jr., to cover the expenses in preparation of the competition.

Mayor Flores graced the event together with the City Vice Mayor Warren I. Pabillaran. Also in attendance were City Councilor Victor M. Barroso, chairman of the City school board, as well as chair on committee on education, Councilor Cromwell Kiril Dinlayan and Department of Education Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Sunny Ray F. Amit.
