The City Government of Malaybalay, in collaboration with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, conducted the Drug-Free Workplace Policy Orientation at the Barangay 9 Covered Court, Malaybalay City.

The event, held on October 13 and 16, 2023, aimed to familiarize city employees with the policies and regulations surrounding a drug-free workplace. It was attended by officers, department heads, both elective and appointive officials, as well as casual, temporary, and job order employees.

Mr. Patricio S. Alerta, Jr., an Intelligence Agent I from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, was the Invited Speaker. He provided an in-depth discussion of the pertinent provisions of RA 9165, also known as The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2022.

Ms. Magnolia O. Improgo, the Human Resource Management Officer, presented the Drug-Free Workplace Policy. She emphasized the City Government’s commitment to implementing mechanisms that prohibit the use of dangerous drugs by employees within and outside its premises. These mechanisms include mandatory random drug testing, drug awareness education, and the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), all aimed at ensuring a drug-free workplace.

Dr. Ann Michelle Go, a DDE Accredited Physician from the City Health Office, described the Community-based Drug Rehabilitation Program Client Flow. This process outlines the treatment for substance abuse disorders and general interventions for relapse prevention.

Mayor Jay Warren R. Pabillaran, the chairperson of the Drug-Free Workplace Committee, delivered a message emphasizing the mandate of RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act. The law ensures the physical and mental well-being of employees by promoting a drug-free workplace environment.
