In observing the International Earth Day, the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (City ENRO) hosted the April convocation program of the City Government of Malaybalay anchored on the theme “Invest in Our Planet.”

Held at the People’s Hall on April 11, 2022, guest speaker Henry S. Binahon, owner of Binahon Agroforestry Farm (BAFF) shared his endeavors and advocacies for promoting sustainable development. Binahon said, “Green future is a prosperous future. We have to act boldly, innovate broadly and implement equitably because everyone is accountable for this matter.” The speaker also expressed and showcased best practices and experiences of various programs and activities amid the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, climate crisis, and fourth industrial revolution. We should come together to propagate greening programs because every day is earth day, he added.

Among these areas he suggested the city government will invest into are integrated water resource management, green building/structures, ecological/regenerative agriculture, and nature and forest reforestation.

Meanwhile, City Mayor Jay Warren Pabillaran said in his message, that as we strive to make Malaybalay a developing Agri-industrial city, we should remember to care for the environment as well. He also reminded everyone to be role models and do their part for the City since that is what we owe and ought to do for the people of Malaybalay.

Newly crowned winner of Laga ta Bukidnon 2022, Dolly Cruz, also graced the event together with City Councilor Cromwell Kiril Dinlayan and different Department and Division Heads of offices.
