The City Environment and Natural Resources Office (City ENRO) conducted the forest fire suppression training to 60 City employees to equip them with knowledge and tools as new members of the re-organized City forest firefighting team.
The participants comprised of 50 personnel from the City ENRO and 10 from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office completed their training sessions at the People’s Hall, City Hall, Malaybalay City on October 8, 2019.
Led by City ENRO, the newly organized group of forest firefighters were lectured about basic first aid technique; forest fires and safety, as well as protocol on radio messaging. They were also taught how to handle hand tools for fire suppression. Endurance test and physical stamina was also among the topics discussed.
Being first responders in the event of forest fire, City ENRO said proper training yields positive results in carrying out duties professionally and safe from the hazards of forest fires.
