The City Health Office, in collaboration with BukSU, organized an HIV and AIDS symposium for NSTP students on September 22, 2024, at the Bukidnon State University (BukSU) Gymnasium.

The event provided students with accurate and essential information on HIV and AIDS, emphasizing virus transmission, prevention, and available treatments.

The symposium was presented by Ms. Athena Roselle B. Ortillo, RN, a medical staff from the City Health Office, who served as the resource speaker.

Ortillo discussed key topics in her presentation titled “HIV 101,” covering how the virus spreads, debunking myths, and highlighting the importance of early detection and treatment.

One of the primary objectives of the event was to dispel misconceptions and reduce the stigma surrounding HIV and AIDS. By providing accurate information, the forum aimed to foster empathy and understanding, encouraging students to be more supportive of individuals living with the disease.

The event was a significant step towards raising awareness and educating young people on the realities of HIV and AIDS, equipping them with knowledge to help prevent the spread of the virus and reduce discrimination.
