The City Government of Malaybalay, through the Tourism and Investment Division and Hawid Outdoors Inc., conducted a clean-up climb and forum with Mt. Capistrano Barangays and Community Guides on November 4, 2022, at Barangay Simaya, Malaybalay City.

The event was attended by three barangay local guides and climber enthusiasts, with 10 representatives coming from each of the barangays. The activity started at barangays San Martin and Managok, ended at barangay Simaya, and the forum was conducted after.

Ms. Honolu Marie C. Cruzin, city tourism officer, opened the forum by welcoming the participants. The discussion was all about the current activities and situation of each barangay and their plan of action on how to improve and manage the tourism activities in Mt. Capistrano. Each barangay raises its concerns and suggestions to incorporate into the Mt. Capistrano Management Plan in 2023.

Mt. Capistrano is located in the Basakan District and is famous for its magnificent view atop the rocky mountain, which is a favorite destination among hikers and tourists. Recently, it reopened and welcomed tourists who wished to climb but had to coordinate with the three barangays surrounding the vicinity.
