In line with the celebration of Children’s Month, the City Council for the Welfare of Children (CCWC) conducted a unique activity focusing on children’s participation and involvement dubbed as “Batang Inobatibo: Handicraft Making Contest,” on November 16, 2019.

CCWC said the products must display the innovativeness and creativity of the contestants. The contest aims to promote the cultural identity of the children’s respective locality by using indigenous and recyclable materials as a medium of their chosen entry.

Held at the Garden Party Venue, there were 23 contestants, ages 10 to 17 years old from different barangays of the City. They were given two hours to finish their output.

Barangay Mapayag bagged the first place with a cash prize of Php 7,000.00. Trailing in second Dalwangan who raked Php 5,000.00, followed by Imbayao in third with a prize of Php 3,000.00.

Other contestants who received consolation prizes of Php 500.00 each were representing barangays Can-ayan, Zamboangita, Magsaysay, Bangcud, Miglamin and Sto. Niño.
