The ongoing distribution of brand new portable hand-held radios has now reached a total of 136 units. These were given to 36 barangays through the initiative of Councilor Niko P. Aldeguer.
The program to equip barangays’ emergency response was made possible through the unwaivering support of City Mayor Florencio T. Flores, Jr. and Second District Congressman, Atty. John T. Flores.
This time, sixteen more barangays were grateful to receive 64 brand new portable hand-held radios in a turnover ceremony held at the barangay Casisang Covered Court.
Two pairs of hand-held radios were distributed to each barangay namely Poblacion barangays 1-11, Sumpong, Casisang, Can-ayan, Kibalabag and Manalog on March 26, 2021.
Councilor Aldeguer expressed his aspiration that the equipment given will be put to good use, saying “with these additional tools, we will be able to save more lives in these trying times”.
Meanwhile, Exec. Asst. Brian Nelson T. Flores thanked brgy. officials and bpso’s for their hardwork who are always in the forefront for keeping their respective community safe. “But let us not forget to not use (radios) it for chitchatting”, jokingly he said to make the crowd laugh.
On the other hand, Malaybalay City Chief of Police PLtCol Jerry A Tambis explained how this vital equipment will help lessen the crime rate within the City “We may not be able to clear out every crime, but will be able to lessen it with our strong cooperation and proper network of communication”.
