CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – City Planning & Development Office (CPDO) and Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development (DHSUD) initiated the third module of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) updating at Pearlmont Hotel on August 7-9, 2024.

There were seventy five (75) participants. Module 3 focuses on the strategic options for development thrusts, spatial strategies, structure planning and policy formulation.

With this, the participants were divided into four policy areas that would translate the vision of the city into broad physical and development terms, identify the physical and spatial character based on preferred land uses and allocations that will represent the vision and identify the development strategies and spatial options to achieve the development goals.

The said policy areas include Production, Protection, Settlement and Infrastructure.

CLUP is one of two documents mandated by the Local Government Code (Republic Act 7160) that must be prepared by local government units (LGUs).

With the said mandated plan, the LGU realizes its vision for its land resources.

Moreover, the CLUP allocates available land resources for different sectors of the population and communicates the plans of the local government unit.

The 3-day workshop was attended by Planning Core Members and Technical Working Group representing the different sectors of the city government.

These included the 9th Sanggunian Panlungsod of the City, CPDO, City Administrator’s Office, City Engineering Office, City Agriculture Office, City Health Office, City Legal Office, City Social Welfare and Development Office, Office of the Building Official, City Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Office, City Veterinary Office, City Economic Enterprise Development & Management Office, City Assessor’s Office, City Civil Registrar, City Treasurer’s Office, City Budget Office, City Environment & Natural Resources Office.

Other divisions and agencies involved include the Traffic Management Center, City Urban Development & Housing Division, Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Division, City Sports, City Tourism Operations Division, Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office, Business Permit & Licensing Division, Department of Interior Local Government, Bukidnon Environment & Natural Resources Office, Central Mindanao University, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Jail Management & Penology, Malaybalay City Water District, Department of Public Works and Highways and Bukidnon Secondary Electric Cooperative, Inc.
