On November 3, 2022, the City Government of Malaybalay, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), held a skills training on cookery for solo parents at Barangay Covered Court, Bangcud, Malaybalay City.

The event was anchored in the policy of the state to promote the family as the foundation of the nation, strengthen its solidarity, and ensure its total development. With this, Republic Act 8972 was created to promote the welfare of solo parents, especially their financial incapacity, in which the opportunity to provide for the basic needs of their child or children.

The skills training on cookery were provided for 25 solo parents from barangay Cabangahan and barangay Bangcud. A budget of P100,000 was allocated in support of the said event.

This activity aims to assist solo parents in finding another source of income to supplement their daily expenses through training such as cookery skills training (bread and pastry) and providing each solo parent with a starter kit, as well as one electric oven for the group to use as their income-generating project.
