The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on March 22, 2022 recognized the City Government of Malaybalay as one of the top-performing local government units(LGUs) for accomplishing a consistent and steadfast implementation of Covid-19 response particularly in the program dubbed, “VaxCertPH,” during the awarding held at Pasay City.

According to DILG, only three LGUs under Component Cities/Independent Component Cities category to receive such recognition in a national stage. Among these cities were Antipolo City (Region IV-A), Roxas City (Region VI) and Malaybalay City (Region X).

VaxCertPH, a self-service portal, is the official digital vaccination certificate for Filipinos and foreigners vaccinated in the Philippines. Since it complies with the World Health Organization (WHO) digital documentation of Covid-19 guidelines, it may be used for international and domestic travel purposes, as stated in DILG social media post.

City IATF chairperson and City Health Officer, Dr. Dennis P. Sangalang thanked the award-giving body for recognizing the undying efforts and sacrifices of the city’s front-liners. Sangalang also expressed the support of the people of Malaybalay in answering the call to follow public health protocol and vaccination program of the national government.

As of March 29, 2022, the City government has recorded zero active case since the end quarter of last year. Before the first quarter of this year ends, a total of 234,759 vaccines were already deployed.

DILG also awarded other performing LGUs in the programs/areas in Safety Seal Certification and National Vaccination Program or “Bayanihan Bakunahan.”
