The City Government of Malaybalay will once again conduct massive anti-rabies activities through vaccinations for the whole month of July.
Led by the City Veterinary Office, this program aims to eliminate rabies in the City by vaccinating a targeted dog population of over 25,000 in all the 46 barangays.
Tagged #Aim4Red, this activity is now on its fifth year, has gained accolades from the regional and national level for its achievements.
Dr. Mary Ann Valdez, program coordinator, explains that rabies is a fatal neurologic illness transmitted to human by direct contact with a rabid animal’s saliva, commonly through bites. Rabies, a significant health problem in the country is preventable, and thus, the City has intensified its campaign against the problem.
From July 1 through July 9, the City Veterinarian’s staff has conducted the high density vaccinations in over 15 barangays. They will continue to render the services right to the doorsteps in other barangays.
