On September 10, 2024, the City Government of Malaybalay, through the Malaybalay City Information and Communications Technology and Innovation (ICTI) Council, organized a seminar titled “The Future of AI in the Workplace” at the Veranda, Casisang, Malaybalay City.
The event aimed to equip city employees with an understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential to transform workplace operations.
ICTI Executive Director Romeo Lapeciros R. Jr. opened the seminar with remarks on the importance of adopting AI in governance and administration.
Hon. Cromwell Kiril Dinlayan, SP Councilor, delivered an inspirational message, urging participants to view AI as a tool to enhance their professional skills and efficiency.
City Mayor Jay Warren R. Pabillaran also emphasized the need for continuous learning and adapting to new technologies, reaffirming the city’s commitment to employee development in the digital age.
The seminar featured resource speakers from DEVCON Bukidnon, including VP for External Affairs Keren Happuch Lacadin, VP for Programs Engr. Mark Ian Mendrez, and AI practitioners Irish Ayco, Jomar Rhandy Vallite, and Aivan Canadilla.
They discussed topics such as AI and machine learning, AI’s application in business, ethical considerations, and hands-on AI exercises using tools like ChatGPT and Canva.
One of the seminar’s highlights was a workshop where participants created AI-driven activity designs relevant to their roles, fostering collaborative problem-solving and practical application of AI in daily tasks.
Salick Darangina, an ICTI member, closed the event with a call to continue exploring AI technologies to keep pace with the digital landscape.
The seminar was well-received, demonstrating Malaybalay City’s dedication to innovation and professional growth, preparing its workforce for the future of AI in public service.
