The City Government of Malaybalay conducted its first-ever mass vaccination simulation exercise on March 8, 2021 in preparation of the arrival and rollout of Covid-19 vaccines for the City.

City Health Office (CHO) led the activity in establishing the historic vaccination facility known as Malaybalay City Covid-19 Vaccination Center situated at the City Covered Court, Brgy. 04. The LGU-run facility will be able to cater 300 people per day by schedule while observing health protocol.

CHO employees and medical staff simulated the 6-step process of vaccination through the following designated areas: Step 1 – Waiting Area, Step 2 – Registration Area, Step 3 – Counselling Area, Step 4 – Screening Area, Step 5 – Vaccination Area and Step 6 – Post Vaccination/Observation Area.

Various agencies also took part as observers and evaluators headed by the Department of Health (DOH) along with the presence of the local Inter Agency Task Force, medical frontliners and other local government unit representatives.

CHO head Dr. Dennis P. Sangalang in his message expressed excitement of the City’s readiness and capability in showcasing the effort of the City Government by making this simulation exercise a success fully ready for the upcoming actual vaccination. He stressed that, “This will be the time that we will fight back against Covid-19,” emphasizing government’s campaign on “Resbakuna, Kasangga ng BIDA.”

Sangalang thanked City Mayor Florencio T. Flores, Jr. for the strong support of all planned activities and programs to combat this viral illness.

Giving workers in frontline health services a top priority, Chief Administrative Officer Edward D. Acta of DOH regional office reminded everyone that in these trying times, it is our moral obligation to ensure that our healthcare system is protected and will be able to withstand the spikes in Covid-19 cases. “We need to preserve our health care institution. So, we have to be vaccinated so that we will be protected,” he added.

In attendance were Exec. Asst. V Roberto T. Flores and Exec. Asst. IV Brian Nelson T. Flores who witnessed the unfolding of the event together with esteemed guests from DOH namely Dr. Vincent C. Raguro – DMO V PDOHO-Bukidnon, Ms. Sheila Marie Pabillaran YbaƱez, Dr. Mark Dell Ompad of Kadingilan, and Dr. Margot Papas-Alcontin of MHO Kalilangan.
