This Day, September 30, 2024, Malaybalay City through the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office took a significant step towards becoming a smart and sustainable community with the launch of the digitized Emergency Tracking Alert System and DOST’s GeoPindot Mobile Application.
This innovative project is part of the broader Smart and Sustainable Communities Program.
The launch event was graced by the presence of Malaybalay City Mayor, Hon. Jay Warren R. Pabillaran, DOST 10 Regional Director, Engr. Romela N. Ratilla and CDRRMO Head Mr Alan J. Comiso. These officials delivered inspiring messages highlighting the importance of this initiative.
Ms. Ritchie Mae L. Guno presented the SSC Program: Convergence with Malaybalay City. Mr. MC Lean Sanz Suarez, a System Analyst from OBX Solutions Inc., the partner company for this project, discussed the technological features of the application. A pledge of commitment was signed by officials and the partner company to demonstrate their support for the project’s success. An open forum followed.
The digitized Emergency Tracking Alert System and GeoPindot Mobile Application are key components of Malaybalay City’s Smart City vision. These tools will enhance emergency response capabilities, improve public safety, and promote sustainable development. The city aims to leverage technology to address local challenges and improve the quality of life for its residents.
Hon. Cromwell Kiril Dinlayan, City Councilor, delivered the closing remarks for the program. Following the event, a four-day technology training program will be conducted by OBX Solutions and DOST for CDRRMO personnel and representatives from 15 pilot barangays. The training will continue until December 1, 2024.
