The City Government of Malaybalay launched the first Covid-19 vaccinations for children ages 12 to 17 years old on November 4, 2021.

City Mayor Florencio T. Flores, Jr. led the historic event together with Dr. Dennis P. Sangalang, Dr. Melirose S. Deticio, Dr. Gary Guido C. Tabios, Jr. and Dr. Vincent C. Raguro during the ceremonial vaccination at the Enhanced Screening Area (ESA) City Covered Court, Brgy. 04, this City.

Mayor Flores thanked the DOH for handing over these Moderna vaccines intended for the kids. He also urged them to tell their household and friends the importance of being vaccinated, saying, “Please encourage your family and friends to get vaccinated. Tell them your experiences today, and convince them to do the same.”

Dr. Sangalang also expressed his gratitude for the parents that submitted their kids on the launching event. “As a parent, I believe this is the best gift we can give to our children – protection against the virus, as well as continuing our fight with Covid-19 and achieve the road towards herd immunity,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dr. Tabios agreed with the Mayor’s call, and also motivated the youth, saying, “As modern influencers, you can make a big difference and contribute to our goal – achieving full herd immunity in our City.”

According to the CHO, the vaccination of this age group will continue in the coming weeks until December, and has been scheduled on Mondays and Thursdays at ESA, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
