Various farmer-based organizations of Malaybalay City received a total of 32 farm machineries worth Php 32,148,000.00 during the mass turn-over ceremony spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture (DA) at Nomiarc, Dalwangan, Malaybalay City.
DA Secretary William Dar led the distribution of nine units 4-wheel drive tractors, four units mobile rice mill, nine units rice combine harvester, three units mechanical direct seeder (riding type) and seven units mechanical rice transplanter to 27 irrigator associations, four agri-based cooperatives and to the local government.
The handing over of farm machineries on September 16, 2019 was aimed at fulfilling the department’s mandate of ensuring increase of farmer’s productivity and income.
City Agriculture officer-in-charge, Engr. Noemi H. Delos Reyes, said the City Agriculture Office helped beneficiaries comply all the legal documents in the application of this bottom-up self-reliant farming systems approach funded under the 2018 DA Regional Field Office budget.
Delos Reyes further stressed end-users of the equipment will undergo orientation handled by the agriculture engineering section on how to properly operate and maintain these machines, and the implementing guidelines involved of the project.
This activity is also part of the DA’s promotion in agricultural development which emphasized areas on equity, productivity, and sustainability in the use of agricultural resources.
