Six couples tied the knot and exchanged their sweet “I dos” as binding commitment to become one in a mass wedding ceremony officiated by City Mayor Florencio T. Flores, Jr. on October 28, 2019 at the Peoples’ Hall.
Mayor Flores, during the ceremony, emphasized to the couples the importance of legalizing union as it render them and their children fully eligible to receive certain government services and assistance.
The local chief executive further stressed that unwed couples are posed with a problem because they could not avail the benefits of government programs such as 4Ps and scholarships for their children, among others.
The free mass wedding program of the City Government of Malaybalay is part of the lined-up programs of the City Civil Registrar’s Office (CCRO). This activity caters to the need to legalize union of couples who could not afford usual wedding expenses. City registrar Priscilla G. Tilanduca urged those who wish to avail the program to visit the CCRO for assessment and verification.
Tilanduca added it is their mandate to facilitate the sealing of commitment and binding of contract, which marriage is a special contract of permanent union between a man and a woman entered into in accordance with law for the establishment of conjugal and family life.
