The City Government of Malaybalay through Malaybalay City Tourism Office conducted a one-day orientation and dialogue for Mountain Resorts and Farm Tourism Sites within Ancestral Domain on June 16, 2023 at Veranda, Barangay Casisang, Malaybalay City.
The operators of Mountain Resorts, Farm Tourism Sites and Certificate of Ancestral Domain Title (CADT) holders attended the said event. They have raised their questions and concerns regarding on securing necessary permit for their establishments or sites with the help of National Commission of Indigenous People (NCIP), and the Office of the Building Official (OBO), City Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO), and Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) from LGU Malaybalay.
Honorable Jay Warren R. Pabillaran, the esteemed City Mayor, and the City Councilors attended the orientation and dialogue session, showcasing their unwavering support and dedication to resolving the concerns and queries raised by the owners and CADT holders.
In his heartfelt message, Mayor Jay Warren R. Pabillaran emphasized the importance of striking a delicate balance between individual economic interests and environmental preservation within the tourism sector. Recognizing the potential of tourism to provide employment opportunities and contribute to the city’s economy, he likened the industry to a business, where exceptional products and visitor satisfaction are paramount.
Mayor Pabillaran assured the participants that the city government, together with the Sangguniang Panlungsod, the concerned offices, and stakeholders, is committed to the advancement of the Tourism Industry in Malaybalay City, with a shared mindset that environmental preservation should not be compromised.
During the event, representatives from the NCIP, OBO, CENRO, and BPLO presented a step-by-step procedure, guidelines, and requirements for obtaining business permits. This comprehensive information aimed to facilitate the smooth operation of businesses within the mountain resorts and farm tourism sites.
The orientation and dialogue session concluded with a positive outlook, as all participants left with renewed hope and a clearer path forward for the Tourism Industry in Malaybalay City. The City Government stands ready to offer assistance, working hand in hand with the Sangguniang Panlungsod and the relevant offices, to ensure the betterment of tourism and the sustainable development of Malaybalay City.
