Local government units belonged to the Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) of Mt. Kitanglad Range Heritage Park rendered their reports in its continued support programs, during the 21st “Aldaw Ta Kitanglad” culmination program.
Among the key agenda reported were the updates on resource management and protection of PAMB activities; watershed and biodiversity support; and capability building.
Seven towns and one city participated the 3-day activity at Barangay Capitan Angel on November 7-9, 2017, which came from Malaybalay City, Lantapan, Sumilao, Impasugong, Manolo Fortich, Libona, Baungon and Talakag.
City Government of Malaybalay had since supported its programs together with the active involvement of indigenous people communities and stakeholders in which it boosted the preservation and conservation of our ASEAN heritage park in the province of Bukidnon. According to DENR-10, it is considered as “one of the best model PAMBs” in the country.
In its report, City Mayor Ignacio W. Zubiri highlighted the increase of allowances of the Kitanglad guard volunteers (KGV) comprised of four barangays in Mapayag, Imbayao, Capitan Angel and Dalwangan. They were also provided with protective gears and patrol kits.
The City Government also gave portable mobile personal computer or tablet to KGVs with an embedded application to effectively monitor the condition of our rainforest in support of the implementation of biodiversity monitoring system.
The 47,270-hectare Mt. Kitanglad Range Natural Park served as headwater which largely contributed to the river systems in Mindanao.
