The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 10 commemorated the 49th Founding Anniversary of Pag-Asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP) with the theme “Pagpapahalaga sa Bawat Kabataan sa Kalusogang Pang-kaisipan Tungo sa Matiwasay na Kinabukasan” last July 25-28, 2023 at Mindanao Civic Center, Tubod, Lanao del Norte where different contested events were conducted.

There were 10 LGU’s (Cities and Provinces) with more than 300 delegates who participated the activity where 29 PYAP officers/members and 3 CSWDO-Youth Welfare staff were sent to represent PYAP Malaybalay.

During the opening day program, PYAP Malaybalay was recognized as one united group, after the presentation of Mr. & Ms. PYAP official candidates and Bench Cheering Competition. On the second day, the group actively participated on Zumba, Banner Raising Competition, Mental Health Awareness and Stress Management Symposium. The Amazing Race and Sabayang Pagbigkas Competition was also conducted and the youth enjoyed a social night after. A Folk Dance Competition and the Coronation of Mr. and Ms. PYAP 2023 was held on the third day.

The turn-over ceremony to the Province of Bukidnon, Malaybalay City and Valencia City as the next host of the 50th Golden PYAP Founding Anniversary where Malaybalay led the cultural dance with the song Saka Ta sa Malaybalay as a gesture of acceptance, was one of the highlight of the event.

The PYAP Malaybalay proudly showcased their talents, capabilities and leadership during the said event in which they participated and won several contest on:

Banner Raising contest – 1st Placer
Bench Cheering Competition – 2nd Placer
Sabayang Pagbigkas – 2nd placer
Mr. PYAP – 2nd Place (Mr. Clide Manangkila)
Ms. PYAP – 4th Placer (Ms. Donna Faith Añora)
The PYAP Malaybalay City Federation expressed thanks to the City Government of Malaybalay through the Honorable City Mayor, Jay Warren R. Pabillaran who gave his wholehearted support, CSWDO Ms. Ivy Amor C. Urbina, the parents and families of the participants for allowing them to travel and join the delegation.

The PYAP Malaybalay will continue to exist to encourage the youth specially the out of school youth (OSY)and disadvantage youth to be involve in these activities for their total development with the supervision of the CSWDO – Youth Welfare Section.
