The City Tourism Development Council conducted its first Strategic Planning for Tourism Development Plan last September 10-11, 2020 at Loiza’s Pavilion Casisang, Malaybalay City.
The two-day workshop was facilitated by the City Planning and Development Office headed by Engr. Adrian R. Gamboa. Attendees were the members of the Malaybalay City Tourism Council.
Among the active standing committees involved were: Culture and Heritage, Infrastructure, Planning, Marketing and Promotion, Product Development, Finance, Ways and Means and Peace and order.
Mr. Decius Esmedella of the Department of Tourism Region 10 presented the national and regional development thrusts and priorities together with a video presentation on the National Tourism Development Plan of DOT-10. Meanwhile, Engr. Gamboa also presented the tourism development planning efforts in the City which included the strategic directions, post-planning and ensuring the basic services delivery under the new normal.
The workshop identified the goals and objectives of the committees together with different interventions, also known as the Programs, Projects, Activities and Policies (PPAP). The specific description of each intervention was properly itemized, so with the output and benefit of such intervention which must be doable within 5 years that even the Budgetary Requirement should be stipulated.
Regional Director Ms. Marie Elaine S. Unchuan urged the committee that they should try to visit all the tourism sites in the City and buy products from local farmers and entrepreneurs.
Also present on the event were Acting City Mayor Jay Warren R. Pabillaran, City Councilor Kathleen Cecile C. Pagaling, and Tourism Council President Jamie Marie Gellor.
