The City Government of Malaybalay and City Tourism Office conducted a Susudaen Culinary Competition last June 13, 2024 at Veranda Barangay Casisang. Highlighting Malaybalay’s rich culinary legacy by showcasing the finest of the city’s farm to table dishes.

4 teams from the Barangay Category and 4 teams from the Tourism Related Establishment Category (TRE’s) composed of 3-2 members each competed for the grand prize. Competitors finish the challenge with beautiful entrée and dessert dishes to present to the panel.

Barangay 6 won the first place and took 5,000 cash prize, medals, certificate and plaque, Barangay 4 got the 2 nd place, Barangay 10 got the 3 rd place and Barangay Casisang 4 th place. For the TRE’s Malaybalay City Agriprenuers won the 1 st place, MCFOODTA and Coffee Wagon tied for the 2nd place and Bricktime Grill and Resto 3rd place.

The competition was graced by 3 chefs Ms. Ruthcini Tabique, Marinela Rocio Cruzin and Kenneth Fernandez.

Further, the Susudaen is part of the 147 th Aldaw ta Malaybalay Celebration with the theme “Discover the taste of Malaybalay: Where Tradition Meets Culinary Excellence.

The Susudaen Culinary Competition aims to showcased the skills of the local contenders while promoting the culinary heritage by using the native ingredients and resources of the city.
