The City Mayor’s Office sponsored the month of June convocation program by promoting City’s treasure of pristine beauty and wonder anchored on the theme, Tourism: “Treasure of Malaybalay.”

Advocacy focused on its culture, agriculture and nature in which the City as capital of Bukidnon offers beautiful places to visit, interesting culture, arts and tradition of the people, as well as promotion of homegrown products and delicacies worth to try.

Invited speaker, Ms. Marie Elaine S. Unchuan, Department of Tourism Regional Director, Region 10 highlighted notable places the City has to offer, to name a few these are Mt. Kitanglad Range Natural Park recognized as one of the three ASEAN heritage parks in the region, Monastery of Transfiguration which currently the most visited site of the City and other eco-tourism parks.

The City also boosted its tourism as the host City in the annual Kaamulan Festival – a gathering of seven hill tribes where the celebration is considered one of the most authentic ethnic festivities in the country.

Director Unchuan urged the constituents for a collective effort to promote our own tourism through the use of social media platforms. She also encouraged to support our local industry, “buy local, eat local,” to benefit our cityfolks.

The resource speaker also reminded the duties of everyone to be mindful of preserving the environment while maximizing potential growth in establishing a sustainable tourism. “Tourism is like fire, it can either cook your food or burn your house down,” she said.

Among the salient topics she discussed were to know our treasures, protect and preserve what we have and help and support our community.
